About Lauren
I have been nominated for the distinguished teacher review this year in HISD, meaning that both my observation data and my student growth data fall in the top 30% of the district. I am capable of breaking down material and spiraling in content from previous grade levels to help students who are confused begin to make connections and gain a footing in the lesson. My teaching experience has given me a toolbox of strategies that I employ to help students access the learning. You can expect frequent checks for understanding throughout the lesson and a lesson structure that begins with teacher led instruction and follows a gradual release model to end at a point where the student can show independent mastery on practice problems.

Lessons are structured around best practices referenced in educational literature to increase engagement and understanding. I am able to begin at any ability level and create a scaffolded lesson to increase the student to mastery. If desired, Spanish can be integrated into the lessons to expose students to vocab and grammatical practices in a second language.
