About Tianhang

Hi, I’m Tianhang, a native Mandarin speaker currently based in Sydney.

Language and culture have always been important parts of my life. Beyond speaking Mandarin as my first language, I have a strong interest in Chinese history, traditional culture and the stories behind language, which has shaped the way I communicate and teach. I enjoy helping others understand not only what Chinese means, but why people express things in certain ways and the cultural thinking behind them.

I speak fluent English, which allows me to explain difficult concepts clearly when needed, especially for beginners. At the same time, I value real communication and enjoy helping students gradually become more comfortable understanding and using Mandarin naturally.

Outside of teaching, I am deeply interested in Chinese tea culture and communication, and I enjoy creating meaningful conversations around language, culture and everyday life. I believe learning a language becomes much more enjoyable when it feels connected to real stories, people and experiences.

Whether you are completely new to Mandarin or already have some experience, I aim to create a supportive and professional learning environment where progress feels practical, engaging and rewarding.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Tianhang, a native Mandarin speaker based in Sydney.

I teach Chinese in a way that focuses on understanding and real communication rather than memorising vocabulary lists or repeating textbook phrases. While I speak fluent English and can explain difficult concepts clearly when needed, I prefer to gradually increase the amount of Chinese used in class so students naturally build listening confidence and real language intuition.

One of my teaching strengths is using stories, history and cultural context to make Chinese easier to understand and remember. Language becomes much more meaningful when you understand the stories behind words, expressions and traditions. Whether it is everyday conversation, pronunciation, Chinese ways of expression or cultural meanings, I try to make learning engaging and memorable.

Lessons are adapted to each student’s level and goals. Beginners receive structured support and clear explanations, while intermediate and advanced learners can focus more on speaking, pronunciation, fluency, practical communication and deeper cultural understanding.

My classes are suitable for beginners to advanced learners, adults, students, travellers, heritage learners or anyone interested in Chinese language and culture. Typical lessons are 60–90 minutes depending on your needs and learning pace.

My goal is simple: to help you not only learn Chinese, but begin to think, understand and communicate more naturally in it.
