About Marie

Always tough to describe ourselves so all I will say is that I am a passionate linguist and I enjoy my languages both as a Court Interpreter and as a tutor in French and Spanish
I learnt Spanish at GCSE and my teacher actually made me want to continue because she was fun and flexible and we felt she "got us"
So I teach as I was taught and as I learnt,
First by listening to what it is that You want out of it and because we are all different I always adapt to You as a learnerI guess I had cool teachers as I carried on to specialise in languages at uni and to this day I Love supporting and helping to create this bridge between cultures:-))
For Adult training I provide bespoke language sessions relevant to either your work or any other field you wish to use your language
And both for school and adult students I very much aim to make you speak very early on and boost your confidence as it is what makes you a better French or Spanish speaker:-))

About the lesson

To my GCSE students that's what I say:
So usually we will first chat about why you are looking for support as sometimes it is because you find French hard or you just don't like it and that makes it even harder, and it is alright because either way you still want to get good marks and so you have made the right decision!
Then we try to establish together which part is hardest and which is ok, so that I can use that to plan my lessons around what's best for you.
Each time we meet I ask you about what you did in class the week before, in case there was anything you didn't understand and it is ok to say: "OMG I can't even remember what we did in class!" as every week is different and chances are I can help you remembering by topic etc and we get there.
And sometimes you get it sometimes you don't and there is nothing wrong with that, as that exactly what I am here for, to help you with the bits that do not stick! Until you start noticing that the extra support actually makes a difference at tests and in class just because you are becoming more confident.
And when I get the happy text in August with your exam mark, it remains THE BEST DAY EVER!:-))
To my A-level and Adult students, I adapt to what you aim for and you find you progress well with the right decision to get extra help because it is Your choice to want to pursue your French learning for pleasure and/or for work.
To my A-level students more specifically:
"First of all I raise my hat for continuing French at A-level, you must love it! And you Have to Love it because at times you will wonder:"Why oh Why did I choose French at A-level???"
Trust me once the initial first step gone over, and that is why we work together, you Will continue to love it and you will want to work harder than ever to get these best end of year marks as it usually helps with the uni of your choice, therefore you made the right decision to get extra help to this positive end.
Immense personal satisfaction when you reach your best marks goal and especially when people tell you:"WOW you did French A-level?! Respect!"
Yes my A-level students are entitled to be super proud of themselves because it's the sum of Your hard work which gets you there in the end:-))
