About Marta
- What kind of experience do you have?
For the last 8 years I have been teaching pupils as young as 5 to a mature students.
I have started teaching complete beginners at different ages and continue lessons with students who have had some experience in the past.
I was also a music teacher at a Saturday school in South London for 2 years where I conducted group music lesson (usually a group of 10).
Also I gave group piano lessons at the College of North East London to help fund my studies. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue teaching and to make a career from it.
Furthermore, I have many years of experience in performance both in the UK as well as in Europe. I have played with many different ensembles and orchestras so I would like to share my knowledge and experiences with my students .
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
No.
- Where and with whom did you train?
At Brunel University I studied with Christine Hankin who plays regularly with the highly acclaimed London Chamber Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra as well as with the National Orchestra of Wales.
I studied performance at Brunel University with Dr Sarah Kingdom and musicology with Dr Bob Gilmore. I have also attended various music workshops in UK as well as in many European countries.

I am an enthusiastic, experienced and qualified musician. I am willing to provide tuition tailored to your interests, needs and to your personality - whether beginner or advanced.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach flute, recorder, piano and music theory.
Flute: Classical and Contemporary. Beginner to advanced.
Recorder: Classical. Beginner to intermediate.
Piano: Classical. Beginner to intermediate.
Music Theory: up to grade 5 ABRSM syllabus.
The lessons will include theory and aural skills. I will tailor all lessons to the students' musical preference so if there is a specific area you want to focus on or a particular style of music you enjoy/want to learn, do not hesitate to ask!
- Tell me about your qualifications.
In 2011 I graduated from Brunel University with a BA (Hons) in Music (First).
I have taken ABRSM exams in Flute (Grade 8 Distinction) and Theory (Grade 5 Distinction).
In 2009 I got my BTEC in Music Technology from the College of North East London with a Double Distinction.
What I can offer students is the experience of studying with an active music performer. I 'live' music on a daily basis and my work in studios and on concert stages is reflected in the knowledge I am able to deliver to my students. I nurture students that become open-minded to a wide variety of repertoires and techniques, and who have the confidence, spontaneity and creativity to be able to improvise and to play with anyone.
- How much do you charge?
£30 per hour or
£25 for 45 minutes or
£20 for a 30-minute lesson
+ plus travel expenses if I am travelling to your home (for public transport).
Discount prices are offered for siblings and rates are negotiable.
Feel free to contact me to arrange a consultation lesson and to discuss the duration and frequency of lessons you need.
The first lesson is free because it is usually spent - apart from teaching - getting to know each other and discussing the students' needs.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home studio in Stratford E7. I can also travel to students' homes all around London.
- When are you available?
I teach week days until 8:00pm and all day Saturdays. Please contact me for available time slots.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages from 6 upwards!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I will prepare my flute and piano students for their graded exams if they wish to take them. I teach both the ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall syllabuses.
Theory students I will prepare for the ABRSM graded exams.
I also prepare my flute students for University auditions and help them prepare for performance classes.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can give flute and music theory lessons also online (skype). Payment through bank transfer.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I believe music should be fun! Practising should be a desire not an obligation and I try to instil this positive and creative way of approaching music in my teaching. I also believe every student is a gifted musician and I see my role as a facilitator in everyone's own personal process of discovering their natural musical ability.
