About Nicholas
I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees conducting independent applied research in marine ecology. While wildlife has been a lifelong passion, I eventually retired my snorkel and waders and spent several years managing a research facility before settling into my current role in local government, where I support a community coalition as a data analyst focused on youth health and well-being.
I genuinely love the work we do for our community, and one of the best parts is that I get to do it with data! I enjoy helping turn complex information into insights that can actually support real people and real decisions.

believe students learn best when they feel supported, respected, and genuinely engaged with curiosity in the material. Sometimes we have to learn things we don’t necessarily want to, but it becomes much easier when we can zoom out and find the real-world purpose, patterns, or meaning behind what we’re studying.
I love working with young people, particularly when I can help build confidence in science, research, and data skills by breaking complex concepts into approachable, real-world ideas and applications. My teaching style is patient, collaborative, and flexible to different learning styles and goals.
