About Katherine

Hello! I'm a British English pronunciation specialist, and I genuinely love helping people feel at home in their new language. My own journey shaped everything about how I teach. I know exactly what it feels like to understand English in your head but freeze when it's time to speak, to search for words, and to feel like a smaller version of yourself. I went from that very fear all the way to a Cambridge C2 Proficiency level, a career in teaching, and a life here in the UK.

Today I combine a strong academic background in linguistics with ten years of teaching experience and everyday life inside British culture. But what my students value most is the atmosphere I create: warm, patient, and free of judgement. I firmly believe your accent should never make you feel "less than." You are intelligent and capable, and my job is to help the way you sound match the person you already are.

If you'd like a tutor who is professional but also kind, who understands the emotional side of speaking a new language, and who will celebrate your progress at every step, I would love to help you.

About the lesson

In my lessons, we work on sounding clear, natural, and confident in British English. I don't just ask you to copy sounds — I explain the phonetics behind them, so you understand exactly how each sound is made and why it matters. We focus on the sounds that are tricky for non-native speakers, plus intonation, rhythm, fast connected speech, and the everyday phrases British people really use. My style is gentle and supportive: I create a safe space where mistakes are welcome, because that is how real progress happens.

Lessons are one-to-one, online, and usually last 60 minutes.

As for my background, I hold the Cambridge C2 Proficiency certificate, a Master's degree in Linguistics, and TKT qualifications. I have taught English for 10 years, including two years at university level, and I now live in the UK, surrounded by the British accent and culture every day. I also understand the learner's side personally — I once feared speaking English myself before reaching a confident, fluent level.

These lessons are for adult learners at an intermediate level or above who already speak English but want to refine their pronunciation, soften a strong accent, and feel understood and taken seriously.
