About Johann

Welcome! I am a dedicated music educator currently in my 8th semester of Bachelor of Music: Cello Performance at University of Veracruz, Mexico. Having spent years immersed in the rigorous academic and technical study of music, I bridge the gap between complex theory and artistic expression to help you achieve your goals.

Why choose me as your tutor?
My approach is built on the same high-level training I receive at the conservatory level. As an active, advanced student, I am constantly refining my own technique, which allows me to share the most current, efficient, and healthy practices with my students. I believe that music is a language, and my role is to give you the tools to speak it fluently—whether you are picking up the cello for the first time, preparing for a conservatory audition, or struggling to grasp a tricky music theory concept.

My Commitment to Your Success
I don’t believe in 'one-size-fits-all' teaching. My lessons are tailored specifically to your needs, your pace, and your personal musical interests. I prioritize a supportive and structured environment where we break down obstacles into manageable, rewarding progress. You aren't just learning an instrument or a theory—you are gaining a professional mentor who understands the challenges of the journey and is committed to your growth.

I look forward to helping you unlock your musical potential and achieve the progress you’ve been working toward. Let’s start making music together!

My Teaching Approach: A Student-Centered Methodology

My goal is to bridge the gap between academic theory and artistic expression. I believe that understanding the why behind the music makes the how—your technique—much easier to master.

Teaching Methods & Techniques: I focus on scaffolded learning. We start by identifying your unique goals, then break down complex concepts into manageable, actionable steps. For cello, I prioritize posture, tone production, and efficient practice habits. For theory, I use visual and analytical tools to demystify harmony and composition.

A Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes):

Warm-up & Technique (15 mins): Focused drills (scales, etudes, or technical exercises) to build physical comfort and intonation.

Core Repertoire/Study (30 mins): We dive into your current piece or theory assignment, addressing specific problem areas and applying musicality.

Synthesis & Review (15 mins): We recap what we learned, set clear practice goals for the week, and ensure you have a solid plan to follow until our next session.

What Sets Me Apart: As an 8th-semester student, I am currently "in the trenches" of high-level musical training. I don't just teach old-school, rigid methods; I share the modern, efficient, and healthy techniques I am currently honing at the university level. I bring a blend of fresh energy, academic discipline, and deep empathy for the student experience.

Who These Lessons Are For: My lessons are designed for:

Serious Beginners: Those who want to start with a strong, professional foundation.

Intermediate Students: Those looking to refine their technique or prepare for auditions.

Music Theory Seekers: Students (or enthusiasts) who need help navigating the complexities of harmony, sight-reading, or analysis.

Academic Support: Students currently enrolled in music programs who need extra coaching to excel in their coursework.
