About Cris

I received both my BFA and my MFA in Sequential Art from Savannah College of Art and Design. I was a teaching assistant intern under Professor Robert Atkins, a renowned comic artist who worked on Marvel's Spiderman and IDW's G.I. Joe series, as well as being a creative director at Radcat Studios. I have worked with many college students to improve their portfolios and comic skills, while guiding them to achieve their goals and prepare them for graduation and a post-grad art career. I currently am a freelancer working at GlobalComix as a Vertical Comic Production Artist where I convert traditional comics into webtoon format for mobile devices. Outside of this main gig, I participate in freelance comic projects like anthologies, zines, comic conventions, and other illustration projects or commissions. Tutoring is my latest venture that I hope to spread my expertise to the next generation of artists and creatives.

About the lesson

I grew up knowing I wanted to become an artist. From taking AP Studio courses to graduating with my MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design, I have always taken my art skills seriously and looked for ways to translate that into a career.

My goal as a tutor is to meet you where you're at and accommodate you based on your art goals, whether its just basic improvement or preparing you for a career in the art industry. Traditional schooling never accommodated me or best suited my talents growing up neurodivergent, and I recognize that students have many different learning methods that work best for them. My mission is to find the approach that fits you best and guide you towards whatever success means for you.

I cater to students of all ages and abilities, but work best with those who are ready to work hard and take their skills to the next level. If you want to become a better artist, find an educator that engages with your interests, and encourages you to be your best self, then I would be honored to accompany you on this journey!
