About Allison
Holding an MS Financial Engineering degree from Columbia University, I find myself constantly evaluating how code functions behind the interface. 55 students have now navigated these concepts with me, ranging from complete beginners to those building their first web projects. My 5 years of experience allow me to simplify complex topics like OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING and DATABASE management into accessible logic. I have worked with finance, consulting, and tech professionals, but teaching younger students provides a unique set of challenges.
We often start with the basics of HTML and CSS to create something visual before moving into the backend. Problem solving on coding platforms is a great way to verify that your foundational understanding remains strong. Seeing students finally grasp the logic behind an API call is the most enjoyable part of this process.
