About Anne

I am invested in student autonomy and the development of self-confidence with a particular challenge. Every student needs encouragement and celebrating even the smallest progress. It is my belief that adjusting one's outlook and adopting a new paradigm of thinking is tremendously beneficial. Every student CAN achieve and realize their potential! As a tutor, I facilitate the process with transferable tools a student can apply in other areas of their life. Tutoring is a holistic endeavor which considers the totality of the student as an individual.
My experience includes teaching students on the autistic spectrum, I also teach Adult Literacy which I thoroughly enjoy because every learner deserves many chances to succeed. I received a Master of Curriculum and Instruction with TESOL
concentration to focus on English as a Second Language to immigrants. Reading is an integral aspect of daily living, and as such is important for self-actualization. Reading can take us to new heights and new worlds. Let's take a trip!

About the lesson

I like to engage my students by reading subjects for which they have a passion to spark interest. It is important to acquaint myself with student's interests and strengths. I firmly believe in positive relationality as a basis for successful interaction. I approach teaching with the knowledge I need to understand a student's motivation, attitude and learning style.
A typical lesson plan involves a sequential process of all four language domains and assisting student with understanding their connection. I start with questions about content and assessing prior knowledge (if any). I like to ask "what if" questions and have student suggest possible alternative conclusions.
What sets me apart is my genuine interest in navigating various methods to assist my student's comprehension. It is fascinating to work together as an invested partnership. I strive to imbue a sense of confidence, ownership and responsibility to self. One of my strengths is clear communication and expressing expectations. I am aware of the significance of improving my teaching strategies and believe strongly in continuous learning and collaboration. It is my pleasure to work with a variety of levels, however, my preference is middle/high school and older learners.
