About Marian
Hello my name is Mrs. Mace. I would love to be your tutor!. I have 20 years of experience teaching, both online and in the classroom. I love working with students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. I make learning fun and enjoyable. I have also had experience tutoring small groups of students. I work on reading and math skills for these grade levels. I would love to start this education journey together. I know that we will have success!

About the lesson

My lessons in reading begin with letter sound recognition and sight word reading. I use google slides to teach each of these concepts. I also use educational videos and songs to make the learning more enjoyable. This would be a lesson for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. I call this my warm up. After that we would go through some phonics activities such as blending and segmenting words. These words as well a the sight words would be in the book that we would be reading that day. Then we would preview the book looking at the pictures and talking about what we think this story would be about. I would also point out "tricky words" that will be in the reading. I have access to online books through reading a-z. After previewing we would read the story. Stopping as necessary to sound out words or looking for picture clues. After the book is read we would talk about the story elements and retelling the story.
What would set me apart as a tutor would be my 20 years of experience teaching in person and online. I also have a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as an SEI endorsement.
