About Heather

A little bit about me: My degree is in English and Creative writing for may masters. I also have a BA in English so I am experienced with writing and literature. I have worked my whole adult life with students in one form or another. I have worked overseas tutoring ESL students with reading and writing in have worked for the last 8 years with students online teaching ESL test prep lesson, I have also taught lessons on listening skills, reading, speaking and writing structure. I have worked with many clients for over four years showing a I am committed to building lasting relationships with students. I have also worked as a trainer and have had to teach new teachers about total body movement and student engagement. Showing my company trusted my skills in these areas. I received many students who struggled and by the end of our time together could read sight words as well as speak in full sentences that allowed them to clearly communicate. I have worked with toddlers all the way to adults and college students. Helping them to work on papers and content creation for their assignments. the two most important things to me as teacher are a positive learning experience and student development. So my lessons are student centered and use the students interests to engage them. Personal relationship and trust are a must. To learn students must feel safe and engaged a dull class doesn't produce good results. So, it is up the instructor to ensure their classes are effectively delivered in a way that engages and teaches. Thank you for your consideration and time with this matter. About the lesson

Example of a writing lesson:
1. We would cover the parts of an essay
2.Look at each section and read examples.
3. Practice together in the lesson creating examples.
4/ A short essay assigned to view together in the next lesson to ensure the student understand and can apple the material.
Each lesson I teach focuses on four main learning objectives:
1. Introduction- learn about the topic basic outline
2. look at examples together and read some
3. Practice application in the lesson
4. provide an activity for student to practice outside of the lesson.

I arrange all my lessons around these for standards and adjust to students learning goals/lesson goals and the level of the student.
