About Janice
Janice Carr, violinist, has been a performer and teacher for over thirty years. Her musical training includes Bachelors degrees from both Youngstown State and Michigan State Universities in Violin performance and Music Education. She also earned a Masters Degree in Violin performance and Suzuki Education from Ithaca College. Janice was a member of the Toledo Symphony, Flint Symphony, Canton and Youngstown Symphonies. She taught strings in the Oswego City Schools from 1990 -2000 and was Director of Strings at Manlius Pebble Hill School from 2000 -2013. Ms. Carr performs professionally with the Candlelight String Quartet and as a free lance musician. She teaches private violin/viola lessons.

My goals in teaching are to give : 1. technical skills required to perform on a string instrument. 2. A basic understanding of music theory and history. 3. Instill a love and appreciation of music.
I expect to develop aural skills, note reading skills, technical skills, rhythmic skills and a sense of discipline so essential for good practice habits.
