About Katrina
I have worked with middle and high school students for the last 8 years. I am currently working with a student in Kindergarten who is working on reading and writing, grade three who is working on reading comprehension and writing, an adult, who is completing a degree on-line, with writing, a junior in high school on SAT prep, and an 8th grade student on SSAT prep. the 8th grade student raised his test score by 30 percentage points and the adult has received A's on all of her papers for the last two semesters.

My name is Katrina and I have done on-line and face to face lessons with students from K-adult in reading comprehension, writing, test prep, and history. I base my lessons on the work my students need to get done. If I am tutoring someone who needs general assistance I usually work with activities because project based learning allows for different learning styles as well as self paced learning. It allows students to bring in their prior knowledge and build their learning based on what excites them about the subject. I have loved classroom teaching but have found my niche in tutoring!

in my experience working with Katrina I have witnessed the integrity she brings to her work. She is dedicated to helping me continue to grow as a writer but also as a learner in general. She believes in a growth mindset which means I have the space in our work to struggle through challenges to come out on the other side. She not only helps edit my college level papers but to make sure she understands what I am writing she reads all of the material I have to read in order to better assist me. She genuinely is concerned about her students and is not focused on her income or profit. She believes in education and the idea of being a life long learner. I have worked with her for two years and will continue to work with her through my Master's program.
I have seen her work with small children to help them with reading comprehension, secondary students who need test prep tutoring, and college students, like myself. She is equally committed to helping all of the students with whom she works, regardless of the age or need.View more recommendations
