About Michael
Education is always something that I have treasured, not just because it is necessary for career progression but because it also transforms the ways we think about things. I personally find nothing more rewarding than discovering something new within the realm of maths and science. I love how STEM subjects can be used to logically explain our understanding of how things function, form, grow, and develop in the world around us. I also love how they develop our critical thinking skills and our ability to solve problems. A greater joy than this is inspiring that scientific drive in others regardless of their ability, whilst helping people to achieve their goals.

My lessons are geared towards students of varying abilities in a variety of different subjects, all of which I tutor at least at GCSE and A-Level. However my main subject is mathematics, hence I also offer lessons for students studying undergraduate mathematics, or a science subject with a heavy mathematical component.
Sessions are typically structured with individual students in mind, as well as the time of year. Usually, I would have an initial 20-minute free meeting with the student to ascertain what their strengths and weaknesses are in a particular subject. From here, I would then work with them on their weaker topics, first by presenting some theory and guided examples to them before they are encouraged to try similar questions themselves. Homework on these topics can be set if requested but again that varies depending on the parent or student. When coming closer to exams, there would be more of a focus on answering exam-style questions, completing practice papers, and building time management skills. Overall, my approach to students is very fluid and is also adaptable to a student's changing needs.
I also offer lessons in Python programming, UCAS personal statements, and university applications.
