About Shruti

My name is Shruti and I am a passionate and dedicated math tutor with a Master's degree in Computer Science. My academic background has given me a deep understanding of mathematical reasoning, logic, and problem-solving, skills I love passing on to young learners in a way that is clear, structured, and encouraging.
I have hands-on experience working with elementary-aged students as a volunteer teacher, which means I understand how children think, where they commonly struggle, and how to explain concepts in a way that genuinely resonates with them. I am patient by nature, and I take pride in creating a supportive, pressure-free learning environment where every student feels confident to ask questions and make mistakes.
I approach every session with preparation and purpose. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs, pace, and learning style because I believe that with the right guidance, every child is capable of understanding and enjoying math.

About the lesson

I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science and bring a logical, structured approach to teaching math, breaking down complex concepts into simple, digestible steps that actually make sense to young learners.

I believe every child learns differently. I use a mix of visual explanations, real-world examples, and step-by-step problem solving to make abstract math concepts feel concrete and approachable. I always check for understanding before moving forward so no child gets left behind in my sessions.

A Typical Lesson:
5 min — Quick review of last session + any homework questions
15 min — Introduction or deepening of the new concept with examples
20 min — Guided practice together, working through problems step by step
10 min — Independent practice with my support
5 min — Recap, Q&A, and preview of next topic

My CS background means I think in systems and logic, skills that translate directly into strong math teaching. I'm patient, encouraging, and good at spotting exactly where a student is getting stuck and addressing it in the moment. I've worked with young learners as a volunteer teacher, so I know how to keep kids engaged without overwhelming them.
