About Anna

Hi there! My name is Anna, I'm an enthusiastic and highly adaptable tutor in History, Politics and Modern Studies.

In terms of direct teaching experience: I have 2 years of experience teaching both undergraduate (right up to the fourth year) and high school students (Nat 5, Higher, Advanced Higher). I can provide regular tuition more suited for high school exams, or more targeted tuition geared towards specific assignments.

My teaching style is at core personable, I always seek to establish in the first session the hopes and expectations of the student moving forward and plan around that. For all of my students engaged in regular tuition, I create individual Google classrooms where I will share relevant reading materials, homework details and session notes - parents can also be added to these classrooms as desired!

In terms of my academic background: I graduated from Edinburgh University with a first-class joint honour degree in History and Politics, during my time there I also spent a year on exchange at the Sciences Po in Paris which ranks third globally for Political Science. Since then I have been doing a Research Master's degree (2 year masters) in Migration History and Policy at Leiden University in the Netherlands, I am on track to graduate distinction cum laude this coming summer.

My master's was fully funded by the Leverhulme Trust and I have had a number of short publications relating to my master's research, so I can also advise young students on funding applications and securing your first publications.

I feel that my key strengths as a tutor are: the passion I have towards my subjects and my ability to adapt and tailor my teaching style to the needs of the individual student.

About the lesson

I base my classes around each student's needs and so the structure can vary depending on what exactly they hope to gain from it. For example, I can offer targeted assistance and feedback when working towards a particularly assignment, or similarly, I can provide longer term coaching if building towards an exam.

I can offer discounts for those wishing to book sessions in bulk. For 5 sessions the cost will be £140 as opposed to £150. For ten sessions the cost will be £480 as opposed to £500.
