About Barnabas
Hello! My name is Barnabas, and I am passionate about making economics and mathematics clear, relatable, and achievable for students of all levels.
My academic foundation includes a BSc in Financial Mathematics (UVic), which gave me a deep understanding of core quantitative concepts, followed by an MA in Economics (McMaster), where I specialized in advanced economic theories and data analysis. During my time in graduate school, I served as a University Teaching Assistant (TA) in intermediate microeconomics. This role allowed me to hold office hours, grade assignments, and identify exactly where university students typically struggle and how to help them overcome those hurdles.
Beyond academics, I spent 3 years serving as a campus missionary on Canadian campuses (UVic, UBC, and MRU). This unique experience allowed me to work closely with diverse groups of young adults, helping them navigate stress, build confidence, and develop strong personal skills. Because of this, my tutoring approach is grounded in deep empathy, active listening, and exceptional communication. I don’t just teach the material—I build a supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and building true confidence.
