About Yannick
Hi, I'm Yannick! I'm currently working as a Transportation Analyst in Vancouver, holding a Master's in Sustainable Energy Engineering from SFU and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, and I've spent time on the other side of the classroom too, as a university teaching assistant supporting and grading coursework for a 150-student engineering class.
I know firsthand how discouraging it can feel when a math or physics concept just isn't clicking, and I also know how good it feels once it finally does. That's exactly what I aim for in every lesson: patience over pressure, and clarity over jargon. I explain things the way I wish they'd been explained to me, breaking ideas down into pieces that actually make sense before building back up to the harder stuff.
Outside of tutoring, I work on data-driven transportation modeling for the region, so I'm someone who uses this kind of math and science in real, everyday work, not just in theory. I'm reliable, easy to talk to, and genuinely enjoy watching a student go from confused to confident.

I'm a methodical student of the sciences, and I bring that same approach into every lesson. I believe the best way to learn is in small chunks: understand one concept fully, then apply it immediately with practice problems before moving on, rather than rushing through material.
A typical online lesson starts with a quick check of what's confusing from recent homework or class, then we work through the underlying concept together using simple, real-world examples before tackling practice questions of increasing difficulty. I also cover test prep strategies and note-taking techniques where it helps, since how you study matters as much as what you study.
What sets me apart is my background: I hold a Master's in Sustainable Energy Engineering from SFU, a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, and I currently work as a Transportation Analyst, on top of experience as a university teaching assistant grading and supporting a 150-student engineering course. I've been on both sides of the classroom, as the struggling student and as the one explaining it clearly, so I know where concepts typically break down.
My lessons are in English and are aimed at elementary and high school students struggling with math or physics, as well as students in civil engineering courses needing extra support.
