About Ursula

My teaching approach in Physics is gentle and reflective, encouraging students to explore ideas at their own pace. I focus on practical scientific inquiry, helping learners connect theory with hands-on experiments. We cover key topics like experimental design, data analysis, error propagation, and scientific reporting, which are essential for successful laboratory work. I guide students to understand how to plan experiments carefully and analyze results accurately. Emphasis is placed on recognizing and managing errors to improve the reliability of findings. Scientific reporting skills are also developed, ensuring clear and organized communication of results. I enjoy working with DIY Scientists and Curiosity-Driven Learners, supporting them as they discover their own unique methods for investigation. Together, we build confidence in conducting experiments and solving real problems. The goal is not just to learn facts but to develop critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the scientific process.

About the lesson

I’m a Physics tutor with over 9 years of experience and an MPhil in Physics. My teaching goes beyond traditional concepts, embracing a holistic and interdisciplinary approach that connects physics with art and restoration. I specialize in exploring how light interacts with pigments and materials, diving deep into the science behind the colors and textures of artworks.

Through examples drawn from art history, I help students understand the physical properties of art materials and the principles of non-destructive testing used in conservation science. My lessons are designed for art history students, conservation professionals, and anyone fascinated by the science that helps preserve our cultural heritage.

Together, we explore techniques such as spectroscopy, imaging, and material analysis to reveal hidden details without harming priceless masterpieces. I focus on fostering curiosity and critical thinking, linking physics theories to real-world applications in art preservation.
