About Haydon

Who I Am & Why I Teach

Hi, I'm Haydon. I specialise in turning anyone, literally anyone, into confident computer nerds. I teach because I know how frustrating it is when school lessons move too fast or feel dry, and to strengthen my own understanding too.

My goal isn't just to help you pass your exam (though we'll do that too)—it's to give you the skills to build your own projects, automate your life, and understand how computers actually work.

That is a superpower in today's information age.

My Experience & Accomplishments:

- Proven Experience: I taught at ExCode (University of Exeter), the UK's largest student-led coding bootcamp, where I helped hundreds of complete beginners write their first code. I know exactly where students get stuck and how to get them unstuck.

- Certification: I am Cisco-certified in Python. You're in good hands!

- Real-World Skills: I don't just teach theory. I've been a Linux daily-driver for 5 years, using all manner of distros, I've made 2D & 3D games with Unity and partaken in Gamejams, and I've shipped real-world projects that I now use daily.

I teach you how the pros actually do it, which is harder, but far more valuable than a "beginner" course.

About the lesson

What We Can Cover

- Python: From "Hello World" to Object-Oriented Programming.

- Other Languages: Because I focus on concepts rather than syntax, I can pickup and prepare bespoke materials to teach you any other programming language you want, your choice! (All I ask is a little time).

- Computer Science: Binary, logic, architecture (GCSE/A-Level/Uni).

- Linux: Command line, file systems, OS basics, we can even try using it with Virtual Machines!

How It's Delivered (The Vibe)

- Hands-On Independent Coding: People struggle under pressure, that's fine! With any coding tasks, feel free to turn off your microphone and camera!

- Zero Judgment: Imposter syndrome is real. My lessons are a safe space to ask "stupid" questions. (Spoiler: They aren't stupid).

- Tailored to You: We start with a chat to identify your exact goals (e.g., "Pass my A-Level" or "Build a discord bot").

- Modern Tooling: I'm no doomer on AI or "vibe-coding", I think it's great and the next evolution of information retrieval. Feel free to bring AI tools into the mix!

- Laid Back & Cozy: Why do I teach online? Because we're both more comfortable in our own homes. Get comfy, cozy, and let's geek out.
