About Iris

I am a Spanish tutor with over 4 years of experience and a Master of Arts in Translation Studies (Spanish-English) with a focus on Healthcare Communication. I specialize in teaching Spanish to nurses, caregivers, social workers, and community helpers who want to better connect with those they serve. My lessons focus on practical language for patient interaction, essential medical terminology, and the phrases needed in emergencies. I design scenario-based lessons that reflect real situations, from hospital check-ins to urgent care conversations. Role-plays and dialogue practice help students gain confidence using Spanish in high-pressure or sensitive moments. I also teach how to convey compassion and empathy through words and tone—an important skill when working with vulnerable populations. Cultural sensitivity is woven into every session, helping learners understand not just the language, but the values and customs behind it. I provide clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and resources that make the material easy to remember and apply. Whether you are new to Spanish or refreshing old skills, I create a safe, encouraging space to grow. Students leave my sessions prepared to communicate clearly, calmly, and respectfully in their work. Together, we’ll turn language into a bridge for understanding and care. Start building trust—one Spanish word at a time.

About the lesson

My teaching approach for Spanish is built on creating lessons that are practical, interactive, and focused on real communication. I emphasize pronunciation, accent reduction, and phonetic drills to help students sound natural and confident when speaking. Listening comprehension is a key part of my lessons, using native audio clips, songs, and dialogues to train the ear and improve understanding of different accents and speeds.

Each lesson is carefully structured, starting with clear explanations and followed by guided practice that connects to everyday situations. I mix vocabulary building, grammar essentials, and sentence formation so learners can express themselves clearly. To make learning engaging, I include cultural elements like music, idioms, and expressions that bring the language to life.

I support learners who want to reconnect with their roots or explore Spanish as a passion, helping them find meaning and joy in the process. My sessions adapt to every student’s pace, making sure no one feels rushed or left behind. I use visual aids, conversational exercises, and regular feedback to track growth and celebrate milestones.

Spanish should feel useful, not distant, so my goal is to make every class relevant to daily life and real needs. Step by step, students gain the confidence to think, listen, and speak in Spanish naturally. Together, we’ll turn learning into a journey of discovery and connection.
