About Gabrielle
With over five years of dedicated teaching experience, I am passionate about guiding students of all ages and skill levels on their musical journeys. My expertise spans a variety of genres, including classical, soul, pop, jazz, funk, and R&B. In addition to the piano, I am proficient in teaching the harpsichord, synthesizer, and keyboard, offering a comprehensive approach to music education. My journey as a musician began at a young age, and through years of study and performance, I have developed a deep understanding of both the technical and expressive aspects of music.
My teaching philosophy revolves around the belief that music education should be both enriching and enjoyable. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel inspired to explore and develop their musical abilities. Each lesson is tailored to the individual needs and goals of the student, whether they are beginners learning the basics or advanced players looking to refine their technique and repertoire. By focusing on both skill development and musical expression, I aim to help students not only play their instruments proficiently but also connect emotionally with the music they create.
In addition to private lessons, I have also organized and conducted group workshops and performance classes. These sessions provide students with the opportunity to learn collaboratively, perform in front of others, and gain valuable ensemble experience. I believe that performing and sharing music with others is a crucial part of a musician's growth, helping to build confidence and stage presence. Through these group activities, students can also develop a sense of community and find motivation in their peers’ progress and achievements.
Beyond the technical instruction, I am committed to fostering a lifelong love of music in my students. I incorporate elements of music history, theory, and appreciation into my lessons to give students a well-rounded understanding of the art form. Encouraging students to listen to a wide range of music and explore different styles and composers broadens their musical horizons and inspires creativity. My goal is not only to develop skilled musicians but also to cultivate individuals who appreciate and enjoy music in all its forms.

A typical piano lesson starts with a warm-up session, designed to get the fingers moving and to reinforce fundamental techniques. This may include scales, arpeggios, and finger exercises tailored to the student's level. For beginners, lessons often cover basic note reading, rhythm understanding, and simple pieces to build confidence. Intermediate students might focus on more complex pieces, while advanced students tackle intricate compositions and refine their technique. This initial segment sets a solid technical foundation and prepares the student for more challenging material.
Following the warm-up, the lesson transitions to repertoire work, where students practice pieces appropriate to their skill level and musical interests. This portion is highly personalized: beginners might learn simple classical melodies or popular songs, while more experienced players might explore challenging classical works, jazz improvisations, or contemporary pieces. The instructor provides detailed feedback on technique, expression, and interpretation, helping students understand the nuances of each piece. This hands-on practice is crucial for developing musicality and technical proficiency.
In addition to playing pieces, the lesson often includes a focus on music theory and ear training. Understanding the theoretical aspects of music—such as harmony, chord progressions, and musical forms—enhances a student's ability to read and interpret music. Ear training exercises, such as interval recognition and melodic dictation, improve a student’s ability to play by ear and understand music intuitively. These components are integrated into the lesson to create a well-rounded musical education, ensuring that students not only play pieces well but also understand the underlying structure of the music.
To wrap up the lesson, the instructor typically assigns homework tailored to reinforce the day’s learning. This might include specific technical exercises, pieces to practice, or theory worksheets. Students are encouraged to maintain a regular practice schedule, as consistent practice is key to progress. The instructor may also suggest listening to recordings of the pieces being studied, to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of different interpretations. Through a combination of structured lessons, personalized feedback, and dedicated practice, students are able to steadily improve their skills and develop a lifelong love for music.
