About Gabriel

Hello, I'm Gabriel. My mission as an educator is to provide students in the Greater Houston area with the elite technical training, stylistic precision, and musicality required to thrive at the highest competitive levels.

My foundational training began on the piano at age five, leading me to Texas Tech University, where I studied piano performance under William Westney and heavily worked as a professional, paid accompanist. Merging my keyboard artistry with vocal production, I completed my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance under Gerald Dolter, joined the studio of legendary mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, and performed extensively in opera and elite choral ensembles. I furthered my vocal training by securing a Master of Music from the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, studying under the renowned bass Peter Volpe. My operatic roles performed include Commendatore from Don Giovanni, Zuniga from Carmen, Betto from Gianni Schicchi, Zarastro from The Magic Flute, Frank Maurrant from Street Scene, Don Alfonso from Cosi Fan Tutte, as well as the Jailor from Tosca among many opera chorus credits with professional institutions such as Cincinnati Opera and Indianapolis Opera.

This rich background on both sides of the performance stage shapes my work as a teacher. Recently, I have directed choral programs as a full-time assistant director and accompanist in Brownsville ISD working with students at the high school and middle school level, coaching them to achieve their all-region results and goals. I am currently working within Pasadena ISD as an assistant choir director at the middle school level.

Every lesson is custom-tailored to your unique goals, combining elite conservatory-level technical mastery with practical performance practice. Because music is a collaborative art, all lessons are held strictly in person—either at my Pasadena apartment studio or in the comfort of your home.

Because of my extensive piano background and years as a professional paid accompanist, I provide elite live piano accompaniment directly during our vocal lessons. This eliminates the standard industry hurdle and added cost of hiring a separate rehearsal pianist, giving you an authentic, real-time performance environment in every single session.

- UIL Solo & Ensemble Mastery: Comprehensive preparation for Texas middle and high school students tackling Class 1, 2, or 3 solos. I provide precise technique polishing, performance styling, and expert foreign language lyric diction coaching to help students secure a Division 1 Superior Rating.
- Comprehensive Musicianship: Instruction that treats voice and piano as interconnected musical disciplines, building strong sight-reading and music theory skills alongside your repertoire

To celebrate opening my Pasadena apartment studio for the current academic and All-Region audition season, my base rate is temporarily set at $65/hour (normally $80/hour) for a limited number of incoming students. This rate locks in your access to elite vocal pedagogy, advanced foreign language diction coaching, and professional live piano accompaniment, or simply piano and music lessons all in one room."
