About Wan Tat

About Me – Wan Tat Cheah Hello! I’m Wan Tat Cheah, a passionate vocal teacher and performer dedicated to helping students discover and develop their voices. With a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Royal Birmingham Conservatory, I specialize in various singing styles, from Classical to Pop, and have performed in multiple languages, including Italian, German, French, Latin, and English. My multilingual background—fluent in English, Chinese, Cantonese, Hokkien, and Malay—allows me to guide students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds with a deep understanding of vocal expression in different languages. As a performer, I have taken on notable roles such as Lysander in The Enchanted Island, Méphistophélès in Faust, Dr. Pangloss in Candide, Vodník in Rusalka, and Le Commissaire in Mesdames de la Halle. My portrayal of Lysander was particularly well received, earning praise from Paul Farrington, Vocal Health & Technique Consultant at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, for my vocal strength and stage presence. My experience on stage allows me to provide students with valuable insights into performance techniques, stage presence, and interpretation, helping them build confidence in their artistry. Beyond performance, I have taught in the UK, China, and Malaysia, working with individuals and groups in schools, music academies, and theater programs. I take a structured yet flexible approach to teaching, ensuring that lessons are backed by reliable vocal techniques and tailored to each student’s needs. Whether you are preparing for an exam, an audition, or simply want to strengthen your voice for personal growth, my lessons will help you achieve your goals while fostering a love for singing. I believe that singing is more than just a skill—it’s a journey of self-expression, confidence, and personal well-being. Welcome to Your Singing Journey!

If you love to sing, want to learn how to sing better, or simply wish to strengthen your voice for speaking and singing, my lessons are for you! Whether you're a complete beginner, an aspiring performer, or someone looking to boost confidence in your voice, I provide a warm and supportive space for you to grow. Singing is not just about technique—it’s about self-expression, joy, and even improving your overall well-being!

As a Master in Voice with over 10 years of teaching experience, I tailor each lesson to suit your personal goals, whether it’s preparing for an audition, coaching for a singing exam, or just developing a healthier and stronger voice. Lessons are available online or face-to-face in KL and typically last 45 minutes to an hour.

What to Expect in a Lesson:

Breathing & Vocalization Exercises: - We begin with breath control exercises to build vocal stamina and power while preventing strain. Proper breathing not only improves singing but also enhances relaxation, reduces stress, and promotes overall well-being. Vocalization exercises help develop vocal flexibility, range, and control, allowing your voice to sound clearer and stronger.

Technical Exercises & Vocal Strengthening: – Through structured singing exercises, you’ll refine intonation, vocal placement, and projection. Strengthening your voice improves not just singing but also your speaking confidence, making it beneficial for presentations, public speaking, and daily communication.

Repertoire & Performance: – Whether you have a favorite song or need guidance in choosing the right one, we’ll work on a piece suited to your level and vocal growth. This section helps apply learned techniques in a practical and enjoyable way, enhancing your musical expression and storytelling skills.
