Master's Degree in Mental Health. Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts with special interest in special education and psychology. I have tutored in a variety of settings. From children in specialized school. Remote learning. Adults and ESL. I have over twenty years working with children, teens, and adults.

I use a learner-focused approach. For example, if you or your child have an interest in cars, I like to find books and materials related to cars to help in the learning to read process. I have experience working with preK to adults in learning to read English. One example of my approach: While working with a learner who was having difficulty with the concept of main idea, I noticed he had an interest in Legos. Using the green base of Legos, we built a structure. The structure was topped off with a flag. I then asked the student to turn the whole thing upside down. After the learner did this, I explained the main idea/topic sentence is the base. The levels of the building are the paragraphs. The flag is now the summary statement.
