About Ovgu

I am an experienced and dedicated language teacher with a strong academic and practical background in Spanish teaching. I hold an MA in Linguistics, specialising in language learning strategies, which informs the way I design and deliver effective, student-centred lessons. Over the years, I have taught learners of different ages, abilities, and goals, from complete beginners to GCSE students. My experience has allowed me to adapt my teaching style to suit individual learning needs, ensuring that students feel supported, confident, and motivated in their progress. I am highly organised, professional, and committed to maintaining high teaching standards. I place great importance on clear communication, reliability, and creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and developing their skills. My aim is not only to help students achieve strong academic results, but also to build lasting confidence in using Spanish in real-life situations.

About the lesson

My Spanish lessons are engaging, practical, and tailored to each learner. I believe languages are best learnt in a meaningful way, not through rigid textbook-only methods. While structured resources are used where helpful, lessons are adapted to students’ interests and goals to keep learning relevant and motivating. My teaching approach focuses strongly on speaking and listening, supported by targeted vocabulary and grammar to develop all four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students are encouraged to use Spanish actively from the start, building confidence alongside accuracy. Lessons typically last 50 minutes, although this may be adjusted depending on the student’s age and attention span to ensure effective learning. I have many years of experience as a language teacher and hold an MA in Linguistics, with a focus on language learning strategies. This allows me to adapt my methodology to different learning styles and abilities. Lessons are suitable for all ages, from beginners learning Spanish from scratch to students preparing for GCSE Spanish, which is my specialist area.

During prep for a social dancer contest I tried private lessons with about half a dozen tutors and Ovgu was far and away the best. She's been a British champion and that shows, but much more than that she really knows how to focus on making incremental improvements to dancing that stick while keeping your confidence up and keeping the joy in the dance.

The proof of the pudding is that on the London social floor, an impressive number of the leaders in people's top-5 started out with Ovgu.
