About Rob

I've worked as a teaching assistant in a wide range of schools (in the UK and abroad) and have seen what teaching approaches work and also those which don't! As a tutor, I'd create a light-hearted and relaxed atmosphere in our lessons and can cater my content to whatever maths topic you'd like more support with.

I wouldn't want any student of mine to be worried or anxious about learning maths and won't put pressure or stress on any lessons. My lessons can be very student led and I won't rush any concepts or topics before they are fully understood and you are confident in solving questions on them!

About the lesson

I started my teaching career working in SEND where a productive teacher-student relationship is essential. I like to provide a light-hearted and engaging atmosphere to my tutoring to provide a tone for connection. Subsequently, curriculum/content can be delivered in a personable and adaptable environment dependent on the learner's needs and knowledge gaps.

My classes are for secondary school learners who would like a maths topic re-explained or introduced a different way to fill knowledge gaps. The learner can be very involved in what they would like to learn/revise and I will cater to their needs and encourage their curiosity in maths problems.

I have a masters in marine biology and have applied maths skills throughout my career as well as an A in maths A level. I am enrolled in a PGCE (teaching training) starting in September and subsequently know the maths curriculum well.
