About Samuel
I've worked with 50+ students over 3 years across all ability levels - from those needing foundational support to those targeting top grades. What I've learned is that most struggles come down to three things: weak foundations that were never properly built, rigid thinking from memorised procedures, and poor question interpretation skills.
My Masters from Warwick gives me deep mathematical knowledge, but my tutoring experience taught me how to identify where each student's understanding breaks down. I don't just teach methods - I rebuild the intuition that makes mathematics make sense.
Whether you're aiming for a passing grade or a 9, my approach is the same: active problem-solving with constant questioning until you can think mathematically, not just follow steps.

I teach through active problem-solving with constant dialogue. You do the writing and thinking while I question your reasoning, challenge your assumptions, and push you to justify every step.
Typical 60-minute lesson:
First 10 minutes: Review homework and check understanding
Next 40 minutes: Introduce one new concept, then you work through problems while I actively probe your thinking - "Why that method? What happens if...? How do you know?" I'll catch silly mistakes early but let you work through method errors to see where your reasoning breaks down
Final 10 minutes: Consolidate and clarify
I work alongside your school curriculum but don't assume school teaching was effective. If you have foundational gaps or misconceptions, we address those first - no point building on shaky ground.
My goal isn't to give you answers or procedures to memorise. It's to develop your mathematical intuition so you can tackle unfamiliar problems independently.
Lessons for: GCSE and A-Level students (any exam board) at any ability level - whether you're working toward a pass or targeting top grades. Standard lessons are 60 minutes; extended sessions available for intensive exam prep.
