About Julie

I have studied violin intensely for 20 years and obtained my bachelor's degree from Stetson University in music performance. I then continued on to receive my Master's in music performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College and hope to continue to pursue my Doctorate degree. I have performed throughout many famous venues around the world and won international competitions. Throughout my time with the violin, I have studied with multiple different teachers all with their own unique style of playing and teaching. The most important thing I have learned from them all is to learn how to make the music my own. Solo musical performance is a special time that the individual has to share their own feelings and emotions through the music. That is not something anyone else can do for them. They can be shown or taught how but ultimately the interpretation is up to the performer. I hope to teach this to every one of my students so that they can feel the freedom of expression and emotions when they perform.

About the lesson

I’ve studied under both Russian and German style teaching and have learned multiple pedagogy techniques. I like to mix and match different teaching styles to cater to the needs of the student. I like to build a strong foundation with scales and etudes in order to make learning music easier. I also believe in teaching basic music theory skills that will aid in musical interpretation when performing.
