About Tom
I am a Master’s Physics student at the University of Edinburgh and currently on track for a First-Class degree. I have a strong background in maths and physics, and I enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects that can often feel difficult or intimidating.
I want to teach because I know how important clear explanations can be. In maths and physics, it is easy to feel stuck if one step in the method does not make sense, so I aim to break problems down carefully and explain the reasoning behind each step.
As a recent student myself, I understand the pressure of exams and the importance of good revision technique. I can help students strengthen their understanding, practise exam-style questions, and approach problems more calmly and confidently.

My lessons are tailored to the student’s needs, whether that means going through difficult topics, building confidence with problem-solving, or working through past-paper questions. I focus on clear step-by-step explanations to help students understand the method rather than just memorising answers.
A typical lesson would be around one hour. I would usually start by identifying what the student is struggling with, then explain the key ideas, work through examples together, and finish with exam-style practice so they can apply the method independently.
I teach Maths and Physics for GCSE, National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher and A-level students. As a Master’s Physics student at the University of Edinburgh, currently on track for a First-Class degree, I have strong subject knowledge and recent experience with exam preparation.
