About Shawn
I am a recent Masters of Science in Chemistry graduate from Oregon State University. During the three years I attended OSU, a large part of my daily routine was planning, teaching, reviewing, and grading both general chemistry lab and lecture work. I have a passion for the scientific method and for helping others understand the sometimes abstract concepts of chemistry. Looking forward to working with you and helping in any way that I can!

My teaching style is centered on student learning, building upon previous concepts and making lasting connections. I like to start with why we are learning the material, making the lessons more impactful by providing a larger purpose for the work, and then jumping into the best ways for your student to learn, understand, and hold onto the information. It is always difficult to get motivated for something that you do not care about, so providing a reason and making the lessons fun while also challenging is something I care about deeply. These lessons can be for any age and experience leading up to the college level.
