About Austyn

I hold a master’s degree in Communication Studies and have experience as a university instructor and research assistant. My academic background includes extensive work in writing, public speaking, research methods, presentations, and interpersonal and organizational communication.

As a university instructor, I worked directly with students to explain complex concepts, provide constructive feedback, and help them strengthen both their understanding and their communication skills. My research experience also gave me a strong foundation in academic writing, research design, survey development, data interpretation, and presenting evidence clearly and responsibly.

Professionally, I now work as a business analyst, where much of my role involves taking complicated information and making it understandable, organized, and actionable. Across teaching, research, and professional work, that has remained one of my strongest skills.

I aim to create a supportive, respectful learning environment where students can ask questions, work through uncertainty, and improve without feeling judged for what they do not yet know. I take students and their goals seriously, and I approach tutoring with preparation, patience, and clear communication.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is collaborative, practical, and tailored to the individual student. I focus on helping students understand not only what to do, but why it works, so they can build skills they can use independently beyond a single assignment or class.

A typical session starts with identifying the student’s immediate goal, whether that is improving an essay, preparing a presentation, organizing a research project, strengthening study habits, or working through a challenging assignment. From there, I break the task into manageable steps, explain the reasoning behind each one, and work alongside the student as they apply the concepts themselves. I also provide clear, specific feedback and help students develop strategies they can reuse in future work.

What sets me apart is my background in both teaching and communication. I have a master’s degree in Communication Studies and experience as a university instructor and researcher. My training emphasized writing, public speaking, research, audience analysis, and making complex ideas easier to understand. I bring that same approach to tutoring by adapting explanations to the way each student thinks and learns.

My lessons best suit high school, undergraduate, and graduate students who want support with academic writing, essays, research, presentations, public speaking, study skills, or general academic organization. I am especially well-suited to students who understand the material but struggle with turning their ideas into clear, organized, polished work.
