About Shalya
In 2022, I started a STEM nonprofit dedicated to advocating for equitable STEM education. From there, I gained a love of not just learning but also teaching others and sparking curiosity. Since then, I've gained lots of experience teaching and working with kids in abacus and math lessons at an educational company, AP science tutoring through the National Honor Society, and private music theory lessons. Apart from teaching, I enjoy singing, hiking, and spending time with friends.

About the lesson

- Lessons will start with guided notes focused on one topic, where I walk the student through a concept they are working on in class. This initial part of the lesson will take roughly 45 minutes.
- Together, we will apply critical thinking skills to see how concepts will arise in application and in the classroom.
- We will have another 15-20 minutes of beginning practice questions to allow the student to ask questions and test the skills we discussed.
- Lessons are specific to any middle school/high school student. Math levels range from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2 (AP Calc BC). Science levels range from Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or any natural science course, including AP Environmental Science.
- As a teacher, I do my best to meet the student where they are and ensure they understand the fundamentals, as those set precedent for all future content.
