About Noam
I have a background in economics and philosophy, with a strong focus on analytical and quantitative thinking. I’ve always been drawn to subjects like math and economics and enjoy breaking down complex ideas into something clear and intuitive.
I also have several years of experience teaching chess, including working with the American Chess Academy and leading group classes of 10–15 students. This experience helped me develop a structured, patient teaching style and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
I enjoy working with motivated students, including adult learners, who want to build a deeper understanding and improve their problem-solving skills.
(I also offer beginner–intermediate guitar and piano lessons if that’s of interest.)

For math and economics, I start by identifying where a student is getting stuck, then break concepts down into clear, intuitive pieces. From there, we work through problems step-by-step, making sure each idea actually makes sense before moving on.
I adapt to each student’s pace and learning style, whether that means slowing down to build fundamentals or pushing ahead with more challenging material. My goal is to help students become confident and independent in their thinking, not just get through assignments.
For chess students, lessons focus on pattern recognition, strategic thinking, and analyzing positions together rather than memorizing openings. I aim to build a deeper understanding of the game so students can think more effectively on their own.
