About John
I am an avid traveler, at least up until Covid, when I returned from China to America. Nonetheless, I hope to be able to travel again soon, as I love to live abroad and experience different cultures. In my spare time, I like to hike, go to the beach (if I am in a location with one nearby), visit restaurants or bars with coworkers---I really miss doing this in China and Japan, read literature and watch classic films. I have finished a book of short stories and am looking for a publisher, and plan to finish my first novel this year.

I am a graduate of UCLA with degrees in French and Russian and studies in Spanish and German, but I have a broad background that also includes work in Mathematics and ESL. In addition to my college degrees, I have teaching certificates from the state of California in Mathematics (up to Calculus II or A.P. Calculus BC), English, and Multiple Subjects. I have extensive experience working with foreigners in China, S. Korea, Japan and Russia teaching Calculus and Pre-Calculus, Literature, ESL, and SAT and TOEFL preparation.
