About Aida
I have experience volunteer tutoring gr.5-12 math, chemistry, physics, and English (including calculus). I am a previous student-athlete and have held coaching/mentorship positions, acquiring coaching licenses which helped build my teaching strategy beyond individual tutoring.
I believe learning is a life long process, and meeting people where they are at without judgement is critical to a positive outcome. I am flexible and realistic in my teaching style, emphasizing the goals and capacity of the student in the session.
I am able to move between subjects, address concerns, and welcome questions/criticism.
I am open tutoring all ages provided the subject area is within my scope of knowledge

I have taken university courses on learning psychology, language development, and literature/history/math. I am very familiar with AP, SAT, and Albertan curricular subjects, and have some familiarity with BC/Ontario.
Academic learning has three stages: acquisition of information, maintenance and elaboration, and successful utilization. Which makes having both specific sessional goals and long term goals crucial for effective tutoring.
I believe in a structured, empathetic approach to teaching/advising, recognizing that individuals face barriers to education like disabilities, illness, outside commitments, and low access.
Beyond the performance goals, I strive to give individuals evidence based tools and the confidence to learn and study more independently.
Here's what a typical session would look like for gr.5-12 student:
Before/Beginning session:
-provide next session goals/questions
During Session:
-Update on Previous Sessions Goals
-Do content lesson if necessary
-Move into active problem solving/assignment completion, with guidance
-Provide study plan and resources for between sessions in accordance with their goals
After:
-Student is provided with summarized session, content take aways, resources, and plan
