Math Educator with 4+ years of training, teaching, and tutoring experience around the United States.

Methodology

My teaching philosophy revolves around building trust and rapport with my students. Moreover, I approach my teaching using research-based pedagogy, following constructivist approaches that promote creativity, critical thinking, application, and formative assessments. I have developed and successfully implemented curricula that are thought-provoking, engaging, and relevant to the state standards. My students will intellectually struggle, ask meaningful questions, and develop mathematical habits that will benefit them in real-life and in the long term.

Background

I am a mathematician and educator with teaching, tutoring, and research experience. I have taught all levels of math in public schools all over Minnesota and private schools in Hawai'i. Additionally, I have researched pedagogy, educational psychology, and mathematics to develop effective curricula, and I have been trained in counseling, communications, professionalism, and liability for working with minors. Furthermore, I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Education Studies from St. Olaf College. I have tutored and taught college level math courses as a teaching assistant.
