About Kassandra

I am a seasoned math and English tutor who loves to ignite students' minds. My philosophy is that reason, purpose, and self-esteem are the highest values and my job is to clear the way for students to reach their personal goals for growth. I am currently in flight school achieving my commercial pilot's license and I want to continue tutoring, not only to pay for aviation fuel, but also to enlighten the next generation with a love of life and learning. I teach English at a university level, but I'm happy to help high school students. My specialties are: essay outlining, research, development, and editing. I teach math and science up to grade 9 and any level of social sciences or history.

About the lesson

I work with students from the ground up, developing their memory and motivation through step by step instruction, repetition, broad questions, and games. My method is to 1st show the work, 2nd work through the problem with them, 3rd let them work alone with my help, and finally let them review their work for mistakes.

I am best suited with students in grades 5-9, but I'm happy to help younger students also. I have the unique skill set of someone who struggled with math as a kid, so I had to pick up techniques to help me memorize how and why equations work and what we can do with them.

Math is not only about the relationships between numbers, it's about completing real work in the world. That's why I strive to help my students understand how to use math and what we're accomplishing each step of the way.
