About Ivy

My love for mathematics grew from the satisfaction I felt when abstract ideas finally made sense. This curiosity led me to complete an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, where I explored mathematical modelling, analytical reasoning, and structured problem-solving approaches. Over the past 11 years, I have supported learners at many levels, helping each student find clarity and confidence in subjects such as algebra, geometry, elementary school maths, middle school maths, and SAT maths preparation. I teach with patience, empathy, and a commitment to making maths feel approachable. I enjoy slowing concepts down, explaining them from several angles, and using familiar examples that help ideas click naturally. My goal is to remove the stress students often associate with maths and replace it with steady understanding. Many learners arrive feeling discouraged, and I guide them gently until they recognise their own ability to think clearly and solve problems independently. Beyond teaching, I stay engaged with mathematics through problem-solving journals, logic puzzles, and continued study of advanced topics. These interests help me introduce students to the beauty and usefulness of mathematical thinking in a way that feels natural rather than overwhelming. Watching students grow into confident, independent thinkers remains the most rewarding part of my work.

Math becomes less intimidating when students see it as a collection of patterns rather than a set of confusing formulae. In my lessons, I help learners develop clear understanding through patient explanation, step-by-step reasoning, and structured practice. I support students in middle school maths, elementary school maths, geometry, algebra, and SAT maths, ensuring each topic feels manageable and logical. My approach encourages slow, steady growth so students feel reassured instead of pressured. Every learner receives individually tailored guidance. Beginners work through basic number sense, visual models, and foundational reasoning. Intermediate students strengthen algebraic fluency, multi-step thinking, geometric interpretation, and structured problem-analysis. Advanced students study proofs, efficient strategies, exam logic, SAT maths reasoning, and higher-level abstraction. Throughout each session, I emphasise patient repetition, clear examples, and guided correction so learners build confidence layer by layer. Maths lessons also help students develop a mindset that benefits many areas of life: patience, critical thinking, self-discipline, and resilient problem-solving habits. When learners experience a breakthrough—whether in algebra, geometry, or SAT maths—something shifts internally, and they begin trusting their ability to work through challenges. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades but to help them feel capable, calm, and empowered when facing mathematical ideas.
