I believe in building children up. So much about math can be confusing and a bad teacher can crush a student's confidence. Silly as it may sound, a sticker can mean so much to a student. Just every little bit of encouragement can help give the courage to answer a question. Every answered question leads to a desire to learn. Small victories are still victories!

I have a very individualized approach to teaching because I feel every learner has a unique way they process information. I like to have a session or two where I see how they think to help me know how to guide learning. I try to always start with basic skills needed for the class, or cycle previous lessons in as a warm up. I have taught at risk students and advanced classes.
