I believe in starting each tutoring session with a discussion of what has been done previously. Then, I like to work together with the student on upcoming problems or examples.
I find that, when I do the work for them, the student doesn't learn nearly as much. Therefore, I prefer to be more of a personal guide than a "lecturer".
My tutoring career began at the age of 18, when I was employed as a student worker in the Mathematics lab at the University of Texas at Tyler. While there, I had the opportunity to help students with a variety of backgrounds and skill levels with various mathematical subjects, from basic algebra to multivariate calculus and everything in between. Since then, I have been working on the side as a math tutor. It is something I have always enjoyed. My students tell me that I have a terrific knack for taking complicated concepts and making them appear simple.
