I think the most important thing is that students truly understand the material, not just that they can replicate the solution. Especially in math, it can be easy to "solve" the problem using a teacher's example, without truly understanding the process for a future assignment. I generally find that students learn best in math by seeing an example and then solving a new problem themselves. I always make sure to give a challenge example so that they can test their skills!
I am a junior at Fordham University and I love working with students! This past summer, I researched and implemented a math curriculum for a class of 4th graders at the Summer Urban Program in Cambridge, MA! I also have extensive tutoring in high school students in all subjects, though my favorite subject is math!!
