About Freya
I'm a proud future graduate of Western Oregon University, Class of '27, and an honor roll student with a passion for helping kids excel academically and personally. As an Elementary/Middle Education major, I’ve dedicated my studies to understanding how young minds learn best, especially in subjects like math. I truly love working with children and believe every child deserves the chance to feel confident and excited about learning. In addition to my studies, I run my own summer camp, where I get to teach kids new skills, foster teamwork, and create an environment where learning is fun and engaging. My experience in camp leadership has deepened my understanding of how to create structured yet playful learning experiences, which I bring into my tutoring. With a patient, positive, and hands-on approach, I aim to make math and learning overall not just accessible, but enjoyable for all students. I’m here to guide them toward success, whether they’re mastering the basics or exploring new challenges!

Step-by-Step Guidance: I break down complex topics into digestible steps. We build up from foundational concepts to more complex ones, ensuring that each step is understood before moving on.
Active Engagement: I encourage students to work through problems themselves, offering help when needed, but giving them space to struggle and learn from mistakes.
Real-Life Connections: I often relate math problems to real-life scenarios to make the subject feel more relevant and fun. For instance, we might discuss measurements through cooking or budgeting to make fractions and percentages tangible.
Visual Learning: Math can be abstract, so I use diagrams, charts, and visuals to simplify concepts. I also encourage drawing out problems when appropriate.
