About Beate
Hello everyone, I'm Beate, and I have a Master of Science degree in Mathematics.
Even during my studies, I started tutoring adults in mathematics. Since then, I've had the privilege of supporting many people on their journeys: those completing their high school diploma (Matura or Abitur), taking vocational or university entrance exams, or fulfilling their dream of university studies.
I particularly enjoy working with adults. Many haven't used mathematics for years and suddenly find themselves facing an exam again. Others are in a bridging course or realize that after many years, they're missing important fundamentals. When we find that crucial point together and everything suddenly falls into place, it's always a special moment. Because mathematics is logical and understandable. And that's exactly the logic I want to explore with you.
My goal is for you to be able to use mathematics independently and confidently, and ideally, not be dependent on tutoring long-term.
I offer support with:

Every math story is different.
That's why we pick up exactly where you left off. We work with your own materials – precisely the content you actually need for your exam or further education.
Understanding your thought process is important to me. Therefore, even with incorrect solutions, I'll show you what was already correct. And sometimes, even with a correct solution, I'll point out where your reasoning might run into difficulties later on.
This way, you not only achieve a correct calculation, but genuine understanding. The goal is always for you to be able to continue working independently as quickly as possible.
Many adults wonder if it's a disadvantage not to have done math in a long time. My experience is quite the opposite: adults often bring far more understanding from their everyday lives than they realize. Often, there's more prior knowledge than initially believed – we just need to make it accessible again.
And if fundamentals are truly lacking, we'll build them together step by step.
I work exclusively with individuals who want to learn math themselves. Because learning works best when the motivation comes from within.
Lessons take place online via Zoom. You can follow every step live via a digital whiteboard. You'll receive the notes after the session. If you're from my area in Salzburg and would prefer to learn in person, that's also possible.
