About Lillian

Hiya! My name is Lillian and I would love to be your tutor/teacher! As a person I have deep fundamental understandings of the topics I offer, excelling during my time as a high school student reaching an ATAR of around 87, while not super-genius, it is still right up there, and continuing to flourish while pursing an Honours degree in Pharmacy an UQ! I offer a tailored teaching approach to every student, everyone learns differently and I believe it is important to take such details about someone's learning style into account when trying to teach them!
My lessons are all lgbtq+ safe spaces and I am very okay with helping people whom fall under neurodivergent or special needs. :D

My lessons are mainly targeted to ATAR eligible, Year 11 - 12 QCE students, designed to help them excel in what is the gruelling effort it can take to understand the mountains of knowledge required to succeed these classes (I get it, I've fought through them without any help before), however I am very happy to also tutor younger students, down till the 7th grade. What is taught in the lessons can range from the fundamentals to start learning the complex ideas and topics in the classes, all the way up to specific topics needing a fine tuning. A lesson can range depending on how much time the student requires regularly to advance their skills, I am comfortable with between 1 and 3 hour sessions, 3 hours being only once I understand how the student learns.

My style of tutoring centres around 2 - 3 main functions.
It is 1. Extremely important to spend time figuring out where the student is regarding the fundamental skills and understanding of the topic before throwing learning materials at the student. During my time in high school, I was forced to learn high level specialist mathematics and end-of-y12 methods mathematics at the beginning of year 11 and I am lucky I did so well in the end with how much I was forced to learn.

2. I would love for all of my time spent with each student and how I teach them to be unique and tailored. It is a fact unfortunately overlook regularly, but every student learns things differently and I believe it is important to understand how each student would learn and then tailor the methods for teaching accordingly. Whether teaching is done through strictly words with the student noting how they please, or we work together to solve problems together in a virtual whiteboard-type space where they can physically show me their thought process and I can give directive and write, correct, and explain in real time, or whether a more traditional approach is best including making "handouts" or sheets that explain topics or provide tasks/tests for them to complete and practice.
Being able to change my way of teaching for every student I believe is extremely impactful for them, and can allow some people to learn at rates they normally cant in standard classroom/curricular settings.

3 (ish). Finally once I understand how to teach each student the best, once we have a grasp on the understanding and fundamentals for each, and goals set between the parent, student and tutor, then we can go into studying, practicing, and learning specific or broad topics, aligning with what the student wants to learn and needs to understand.
