About Joel
I am a mechanical engineering and applied mathematics major. I served close to 5 years in the United States Army and decided to go to school. Some of my hobbies are reading, riding my motorcycle, fitness, and video games on occasion. I love mathematics, more than I can even express. It amazes me what mathematics has contributed to our society and how my understanding becomes more profound when I learn a new concept. My first realization about how much I truly enjoyed math was when I was taking precalculus; my instructor was amazing and her passion really roped me in. I was fortunate that she taught my first calculus class as well. My calculus 2, calculus 3, and differential equations instructor was even more passionate and effective and he showed us not just how to approach things theoretically, but conceptually. I consider myself fortunate for having these instructors and my goal is to radiate this same aura to my students.

Math is the most beautiful language you will ever learn. My approach is simple: I want to show you where you can use this material and the practicality behind the concepts.
Here is what you can expect from a lesson with me:
Before the lesson, let me know the concepts that are giving you trouble so that when I arrive, we get right to it.
I will bring at least three examples, and we will cover them in the following order: a medium-difficulty problem, an easy problem, and then one or two difficult problems. Afterward, we will assess your assigned problems so we can switch some numbers for you to solve a similar problem with the same spirit.
I can tutor any ages from kindergarten up through college, from arithmetic to linear algebra. I can work with anyone, including parents.
