About Thomas
I’m Thomas, an independent researcher with a background spanning mathematics, physics, philosophy, and law. I genuinely enjoy figuring out how things work and, especially, helping other people have that same moment when a difficult idea suddenly becomes understandable. I’m patient, curious, and believe good teaching should build confidence as well as knowledge.

My approach as a tutor
I believe students learn mathematics and physics best when they understand why something works, rather than simply memorizing formulas. My approach is patient, conversational, and focused on building intuition first, then developing the mathematics carefully.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student already understands and where the difficulty actually lies. We then work through the concept step by step, using examples and guided problems. I encourage students to explain their reasoning out loud, because that often reveals exactly where a misunderstanding begins. We finish by applying the idea independently and identifying what to practice next.
I can work with middle-school, high-school, and undergraduate students, depending on the subject and level. I particularly enjoy helping students who feel that mathematics or physics is "too abstract" by connecting equations to concrete ideas and visual reasoning.
What sets me apart is my research-oriented, first-principles approach. I have spent years working across mathematics, physics, philosophy, and formal reasoning, and I bring that same curiosity into tutoring. I want students to leave a lesson not merely knowing how to solve one problem, but understanding the underlying structure well enough to solve the next one themselves.
