About Liam
Hi, I'm Liam. I am a postgraduate mathematics student from Perth, currently studying a Master of Financial Mathematics at UNSW. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics from UWA.
I achieved an ATAR of 99.10 in high school, with Mathematics Methods and Specialist Mathematics as my strongest subjects. I didn’t always find math easy, but once I reached topics like trigonometry and calculus, I started to really enjoy it and became much more interested in understanding the subject at a deeper level.
Since then, I have continued to build on that interest through university study, with a current focus on stochastic processes and computational methods. I also enjoy helping friends from other disciplines with their calculus and bridging mathematics subjects when they need support.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing cricket, and discovering new music.
My aim is to help students build confidence in mathematics and develop a genuine understanding of the subject.

Having achieved an ATAR of 99.10, I understand what it takes to perform well in high school mathematics, and through my university studies I have developed a strong foundation in both senior school and university-level mathematics.
I have previously tutored WACE students from Years 10–12 in Mathematics, working face-to-face across topics such as trigonometry, calculus, and exam preparation. This experience taught me how to explain concepts in a way that builds real understanding, rather than simply showing how to solve problems.
My approach to tutoring focuses on understanding rather than memorization. I break problems down step-by-step, ask guiding questions, and help students develop intuition so they understand what they are doing before moving on. I also adapt my explanations to suit each student’s learning style, whether that involves examples, repetition, or visual explanations.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although I am flexible depending on the student’s needs. A typical session includes reviewing class content, working through examples together, and then completing practice questions to build confidence.
I tutor high school Mathematics, including both WACE and HSC courses, and I am also happy to support first-year university students in mathematics or statistics.
