About Dean
My passion for mathematics began early, driven by curiosity about patterns, structure, and logical reasoning. I pursued an M.Sc in Pure Mathematics, where I explored advanced mathematical theory while also developing a strong appreciation for clear explanation and conceptual depth. Over the past 13 years, I have worked closely with students across elementary school maths, middle school maths, geometry, algebra, and SAT maths, helping them move from uncertainty to confidence. I teach with empathy and adaptability, recognising that every learner experiences maths differently. I focus on creating a calm, supportive environment where students feel safe asking questions and exploring ideas at their own pace. Visual models, real-world examples, and structured reasoning play an important role in my teaching approach. Outside teaching, I stay engaged with mathematics through continuous study, problem exploration, and educational research. Teaching maths is deeply fulfilling because it allows me to support learners in building confidence, resilience, and lifelong analytical skills.

Mathematics becomes far more manageable when students understand the reasoning behind each method rather than memorising procedures. In my lessons, I support learners across elementary school maths, middle school maths, geometry, algebra, and SAT maths using structured explanations that emphasise logic, patterns, and step-by-step thinking. I help students recognise connections between concepts so learning feels consistent and meaningful. Lessons are personalised to match each learner’s current level and goals. Beginners strengthen number sense, arithmetic fluency, and confidence. Intermediate learners focus on geometry concepts, algebraic expressions, equations, and proportional reasoning. Advanced learners develop SAT maths strategies, accuracy under time pressure, and flexible problem-solving techniques. Guided practice and reflection are key components of every lesson. Maths lessons also help students develop patience, focus, and resilience. As learners gain confidence, they approach problems with calm persistence. My goal is to help students trust their reasoning, build long-term understanding, and develop skills that support success beyond the classroom.
